Why don't they make earthquake greeting cards? There's so much potential, there. Think of the rhymes and wishes.....consider this a contest to come up with earthquake greeting cards...I'll expect your ideas soon. :)
OK, my first earthquake.
It was amazing! The earth moved back and forth for minutes! Things fell off the wall! I screamed and balled! I ran to my roommate to drag her out of the house! Oh, the drama!
Here's how it really went down. I was laying on my bed and it shook back and forth once, and by the time I bolted upright, it was over. No more than two seconds. Good way to break me in, don't you think? I walked quickly to Ms. Lee (my roommate), to verify that it was indeed, an earthquake, and she called a 5.0 somewhere in the valley. She was spot-on, it was a 5.0 about 30 miles away in Riverside. I did the superstar pose and declared "My first earthquake", and she smiled and looked at it through the eyes of a child...me. She probably didn't give much of a rip as she's used to it. I promptly called my sister and started spouting about my first and the end of the world on the winter solstice of 2012, etc. A little overexcited.
Hey, I finished my first week of work! My boss had mercy on my soul and let me work four days this week instead of five, such that I could sleep past 6 a.m. today and not drive for three hours to work for four. Next week I'll be in Santa Monica and will hopefully take my bike frequently. Only four more days of ridiculous commuting! Yee haw and all that.

My first quake when I was in San Fransisco, nobody else noticed. I jumped up and ran to the appropriate wall and was mocked by the workers in the department. It was over before I had run the 10 feet.
ReplyDeleteThen we talked about tornados. They talked about how freaked out they would be and I told them how in the midwest we didn't give them a second thought and usually went outside to try and see them.
Given the two, I will take the tornado. Kinda hard to hide from the shaking earth and everything around you. For tornados all you have to do is not live in a. Kansas, b. any where that ends in "alley" or c. a mobile home, less it becomes one.
Earthquake greeting card:

ReplyDeleteI thought that I was in an earthquake once when I was in high school. I woke up to the be shaking for three or four seconds. Later it was determined to be Navy jets breaking the sound barrier to close to the shore (my house was about two blocks from the beach).
ReplyDeleteMy submission:
"I'm all shaken up over the recent earthquake."
Shake, shake, shake
ReplyDeleteShake, shake, Shake
Shake your booty now.
